PROFILE - Kathleen Wilson 2016 North Gwinnett High School COMMITTED
My name is Kathleen Wilson and I am a junior at North Gwinnett high school (Suwanee, GA), graduating in 2016. I am 5’11 and have primarily played both guard positions and small forward in both high school and AAU. For the 2014-2015 high school season, our team lost all of its posts and I have played every position on the floor, from post to point guard, demonstrating both a team-centric focus and versatility. I am also a strong student, with a 3.83 GPA (SAT/ACT scores pending).
My 2014-2015 high school basketball season is off to a strong start. In our first tournament (Parkview Tipoff Classic), I was honored with an All Tournament Player Award and hope to contribute to my team’s success in our next tournament in December 2014.
I have played AAU basketball for several years, competing for God’s Property, Gwinnet Starz, Georgia Elite and most recently the Georgia Hoopstars. In high school, I played JV as a freshman and varsity lettered as a sophomore. I also ran cross country as a freshman (to strengthen endurance), where I was awarded a varsity letter and ran with the varsity following our first meet. I was recruited by our track coach and intend to run track in the spring of 2015.
My work ethic and drive are my greatest strengths. Outside of team activities, I have been working with a basketball trainer for several years (Coach Darene Thomas). I train with her Fundamental Basketball Academy during the season and throughout the off-season. I am driven to excel, both in academics and athletics, and look forward to challenging competition. While I have not decided on a major, post-college I would like to continue to be involved in basketball, whether it is through a continued playing career, coaching or administration.
