Personal Profile

My name is Michael Mejias but people call me Mikey.  I have a twin brother named Matthew, and we are both looking forward to the college recruiting process. As for myself,  I was fortunate to have been nominated to be the captain of my high school baseball team.   I have played on varsity team all 4 years of my high school career.   As a sophomore I had a 93 fielding percentage and hit .299.  I was honored to have received Miami Dade county Honorable Mention on the All Miami Dade team.

My Junior season was my best season so far. I was lead off batter  and finished the season with a .395 batting average.  I feel my biggest asset id that I am a very hard working person who who believes nothing worthwhile ever comes easy, therefore I grind and work hard to achieve my goals.

I am very excited about this upcoming season, not only becasue it will be my final high school baseball season I am excited because my team has a legitimate chance to play for a Florida State Championship. I fell one of my roles on this team is to keep the team motivated and excited throughout the year as well as do my best to keep them focused on the prize of playing for a Florida State Championship title.

I am also very encouraged looking forward to going to college.  I am eager to find a great college where I can study and realize my dream of not only playing college baseball but I can get a great education to jump start my life in the business world.

I am open minded about leaving south Florida for my college career.

Athletic Information

OFFENSE

Michael has very good power to all parts of the field.  He is stronger as a pull hitter but can hit the ball with authority to the opposite field.  Typically hits at the top of the order and delivers explosive offense and can produce runs for any team.

Loads well at the plate and has great hand eye coordination.

Speed is good on the bases. Knows and understands the importance of taking good jumps and reads the pitchers and catchers well.

DEFENSE

Although covers a lot of ground at SS in high school and travel ball, it is possible Michael will fit the roll of a 2B at the college level.  Has good lateral movements and charges the ball with authority.  Arm strength is well above average and as a result can also play OF if necessary.
